Education and participation
In Germany, the right to education and participation is enshrined in various laws, including in particular the Basic Law (Article 7) and the Child and Youth Welfare Act (Sections 2 and 3).
The Basic Law guarantees the right to education and requires the creation of equal educational opportunities for all citizens. The Child and Youth Welfare Act defines the support of children and young people as a right to participation, and it is mandatory to provide the necessary conditions for participation in educational processes.
These laws form the legal basis for measures and support services in the areas of education and social inclusion, such as tutoring, remedial teaching or learning support programmes
Education and Participation Package (BuT)
The Education and Participation Package supports children, teenagers and young adults.
Children from families receiving the following benefits are legally entitled to participation and educational support:
– SGB II (Jobcenter)
– SGB XII (Sozialamt)
- Housing benefit (Sozialamt)
– Child supplement (Familienkasse)
– Benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylblG) (Sozialamt)
